Automation shouldn't quietly decide who gets left behind.
Algorithmic systems now shape who gets hired, who gets a loan, who gets housing, and who gets flagged as a risk. Marginalized communities absorb the errors most. We're building compliance tools that hold AI systems accountable before they cause harm.
Automation doesn't fail evenly
Automated systems now make or influence decisions that used to require a human. Hiring, lending, housing, insurance, and benefits eligibility are increasingly filtered through algorithms trained on historical data.
Historical data carries historical bias. When that bias gets automated, it doesn't just repeat. It scales.
Who bears the cost
Low-income households, minority communities, and people with thin financial or employment histories get flagged, denied, or deprioritized by systems they can't see and can't appeal to. A single miscoded data point can cascade across every automated decision that touches their life.
Why regulation lags
Privacy law and AI governance requirements, from state privacy statutes to the EU AI Act, are catching up. But most firms deploying these systems don't have the staff or tooling to audit what their models are actually doing to the people on the other end.
Responsible AI that strengthens both institutional accountability and public trust
Pactura builds AI-driven document intelligence and compliance tooling for legal, medical, financial, and healthcare tech firms. We help these firms find where their systems and processes create disparate impact before a regulator, or a person, finds it for them.
Good AI governance isn't just a legal shield. It's the mechanism that keeps automated systems from quietly discriminating against the people with the least power to push back.
- Turn scattered documents and records into structured, auditable data
- Surface where automated processes could produce discriminatory outcomes
- Map obligations under state privacy law and the EU AI Act to what your systems actually do
- Build with the practitioners and communities affected, not just for them
Built by someone who knows the systems
I didn't study compliance failures from a distance. I've navigated them.
As a software engineer and founder in Birmingham, Alabama, I've fought credit bureaus over tradeline errors, defended myself in court against debt collection, and pursued a bad-faith insurance claim when systems failed me. Those experiences were messy, frustrating, and instructive. They taught me that opacity in regulated systems falls hardest on people without institutional backing.
That's why I'm building Pactura. Not to solve compliance in the abstract, but to make sure the people most exposed to automated decision-making, low-income families, minority-owned businesses, and communities with the least institutional power, don't carry the cost when a system gets it wrong.
Accountability wherever automation touches people
Discrimination through automation shows up wherever a system replaces human judgment at scale. Who gets interviewed. Who gets approved. Who gets flagged. Who gets denied.
We're building Pactura's compliance tooling around the industries where these decisions carry the highest stakes, and where the people affected have the fewest resources to contest them.
